First day of school

B. had his first day of school this past week. First of all, he was absolutely thrilled that he got his own backpack. Over the past few weeks, every time the word school was mentioned in our home, I would hear B. say, "Bap pack? Bap pack?" And, of course, he would run to find it and show me how it worked. B. is such a doll, so full of passion and emotion. He reminds me so much of Brian, in the way he looks up and smiles, or the way he nods when I ask him if he's okay. And I think he's even got his father's fashion sense. The kid has opinions on what he wears! Oh, my boys are growing and changing, and I feel so blessed to have them.

I remember how thrilled and proud Brian was his first day of school.
He almost struttered into the school. Both your boys are the sweetest boys and I'm so happy you have them and we have the honor of being their grandparents.

May I just say that I love that you are posting so often? This bedrest lady is enjoying this piece of entertainment! :o) And by the way, I was thinking the same thing about B. reminding me of Brian today at lunch. I'm not sure what it is, but I see it too!

Today is November 7, a day that will always represent one of the most defining moments in my family's life. Fourteen years in Heaven. It was roughly 1:15 in the afternoon when Brian gave his last breath on Earth. Please Pray

Please pray for Max. He has a type of pox virus that is wreaking havoc on his immune system. In order to treat it, he is very uncomfortable, and it seems to be leaving little pockmarks, which could be permanent. Please pray that God would heal him completely and that there would be no permanent marks. Thanks.

Another Year in Heaven

This past Friday, November 7th, marked the three year anniversary of Brian's Homecoming. And my family is together, happy and healthy. What a testament to my Father, whose promises are faithful and true, and to His perfection and plan for a life that seems chaotic and scary. This year I experienced peace. Deep breathing peace. Yes, I miss Brian, probably always will, but it doesn't ache so intensely anymore. It's restful and quiet, a graceful tugging every now and then on my heart, not an iron grip, squeezing tirelessly. As I reflect on the past three years, I see just how big of a mess I was. To those first months when life felt like Tom's Twister. Focus, breathe, take a step forward, wait I'm dizzy.
