Kitchen "Creation Station"

From when I could toddle on my own, I've loved being in the kitchen. I remember many Sunday afternoons when I would ask to make cookies or experiment with ingredients to create a delicacy. Or when I was six and seven, and took cooking classes at the fancy Clayton Neiman-Marcus cooking school. Or even when we would play outside, there was always a restaurant with a nut/leaf/hollyberry dish to serve.  I'm sure I followed recipes at some point, but I much prefer the creative experimental approach.

Now I'm a momma, and I have two helpers--one who loves to experiment and one who will only follow the recipe.  They are in training--to be independent, to be husbands and fathers, and to serve in this broken world.  I figured some kitchen creativity is essential in that training.  Well, that and some TKD.

Here are some of our favorites:

We are not afraid to experiment:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Butterscotch Banana Bread on a Snow Day

Late summer tomatoes from the garden:
Green Tomato Salsa Verde

Christmas morning tradition:
Chocolate Chip Peppermint Scones
